Riley's First Calling

Riley was worried at first when he joined the deacons quorum in January and was not included in the newly called quorum presidency. He wondered why the Lord wouldn't use him. If there was something wrong with him. I told him that his time to serve would come, that the Lord has a work for him to do, and it doesn't have to be inside a presidency. As a priesthood holder, he has the power to do great good in the world, and he has cheerfully been willing to do baptisms for the dead in the temple several times this year, as well as teach in his quorum and serve those around him both in and out of our home. He is kind and wants to do what's right.

However, recently when there was a change in the deacons quorum, he couldn't help but be excited that he was going to have his first chance to serve in an official capacity. He was called to serve as the secretary in his quorum, with Logan Zollinger as president and Giles McAllister and Liam Patten as counselors. He is really thrilled to be able to learn how to be a leader, and takes his responsibilities as secretary very seriously. This is a great group of boys. I'm so happy for him to be able to learn how to serve and love others the way the Lord would have him do.
