Music and Munchies a la Riley

Riley had his very first orchestra concert! He has been so excited to learn how to play the violin. He's been using the violin we bought for Brendan, and has been determined to live up to the legacy that Brendan started at Evergreen Middle. He comes home from school and pulls the violin out to play and tinker, and to even try and figure songs out on his own. He really enjoys it. So, although he was a little nervous about performing with all the other kids, he was also excited to get to show us what he's been learning. Grandma and Grandpa Jerdon were even able to come see him!

The students did a great job! Afterwards, Riley caught up with some of his buddies, including Baylin Etzel, who plays the viola.

Here he is with Logan Zollinger and Aubrey Harvey, both from our ward, who also both play the cello.

After the concert worries were behind him, the next project which Riley jumped right into was for Veteran's Day. He had been talking about it for days and wanted to do something special for Grandpa Jerdon, his own personal veteran. Riley decided that he wanted to make some patriotic cupcakes and a special card, so we did just that. We made cupcakes and frosting from scratch. They turned out really pretty and had red, white and blue batter inside!

Grandpa was happy to get the surprise. Happy Veteran's Day! Thank you for your service!
