Caleb at College: Week 6

The Craziest: Caleb learned the hard way that it's a good idea to get ALL of the things you need from the store while you are there. Especially if your transportation is a bicycle. Haha.

On Saturday, he had biked over to Smith's to get his groceries. Then rode them home. After which, he rode all the way to the Orem Target to buy a shower curtain and mat since his roommate, Jeff, had moved out taking his with him. After getting back home with the shower curtain, Caleb decided to go back to Smith's to buy some pumpkins (I guess that on a bike that would merit another trip). However, once he returned home from Smith's the second time, he realized that he needed shower curtain rings to hang the shower curtain he had bought. Soooooo, he had to ride his bike all the way BACK to the Orem Target to get them. The funny part was that on the way back from Target, there was some sort of Trump road rally thing going on with many, many cars and trucks decked out in Trump 2020 gear, American and "Don't Tread on Me" type flags driving along in the streets and holding up traffic going in several directions! It seemed like they were everywhere! Long story short, it's a good thing he is in shape!

The Worst: Loads more homework. Caleb said that on Friday, he had almost 7 hours of homework including a lot of calculus, which he kept having to redo because he was making mistakes. Ah, college life.

The Tender Mercy: Caleb said that he prayed before his calculus midterm and went in feeling confident. He remembered and understood everything he needed to, and felt that he did really well.

Also, he has been putting together the schedule for next semester's classes he will need to register for. He needs to take a general ed art elective, which would take up space in his busy schedule and be 3 credits. However, before Jeff moved out, he told Caleb about a "Live on demand" class he had taken this semester which was 3 credits, but only 1 term long (half a semester) and super easy. It is Music 101. Since it is on demand, that means that the classes are posted regularly, but you can watch them whenever it works for you, so Caleb could fit the class anywhere into his schedule as needed. PLUS, since he's already played an instrument for seven years and learned about music history and theory, the class ought to be an easy grade! Tender mercies!

The Coolest: This last week, Caleb got to enjoy more Halloween fun. He texted me for the recipe to make Mummy Dogs, and then had his buddies, Kimball Demars and Talitha Call, over to his apartment to eat and carve pumpkins. Kimball's roommate, Kyle, also joined them. Caleb wore his Robin costume, which we had sent down in his holiday package.

Here is the Mummy Dogs recipe I sent Caleb. It's really easy, and they are always really cute.

Ingredients:
1-1 oz tube refrigerated bread stick dough
12 hot dogs
1 egg
1 T. water
mustard for garnish

Separate dough into strips. Wrap one strip of dough around each hot dog, leaving 1/2 inch uncovered for face. Arrange on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Whisk together egg and water; brush over dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 14-16 minutes, or until golden. Dot mustard on hot dogs with a toothpick to form eyes, if desired.
