Caleb at College: Week 3

The coolest thing: Caleb's roommate, Jeff, brought a tv and an XBox with him to college, and said that the others could play on it. They all pitched in to buy "Rainbow 6 Siege" for it, which happens to be the game which Caleb and his buddies from Spokane liked to play online together. So, this week, Caleb was able to play with his friends, Adam and Jeremy, using the XBox and his headset. It was like old times getting to chat and play together.

The craziest thing: Caleb realized shortly after moving into his apartment that he had forgotten to bring the charging cord for his headset, and since he has to use it daily for his online classes (not just his gaming) this became a problem really fast. The headset doesn't hold its charge for a super long time. It was necessary that he find an aux cord for it to plug into his laptop. The problem was getting out to purchase one. He had to set a day aside to use his bike and drive around to find a store that carried one. He biked over to the Smith's where he does his grocery shopping, but they didn't have one there. So, he headed over to Ace Hardware, but they were sold out. He finally had to bike nearly all the way to Orem to get to the Walmart and finally found one there. So, after biking for over an hour, he finally got what he needed.

The worst thing: A little over a week ago, Caleb's roommate, Jeff, came home to announce that he was COVID positive. Welcome home. Not long afterwards, Caleb's roommate who actually shares his room with him, Parker, also tested positive. Both boys were suffering from cough and exhaustion, fever and chills. Awesome. Although Caleb's test came back negative, it was only a matter of time until he caught it, too. One day, he had a headache and a scratchy throat, but after that was fine. In an effort to be responsible, and per the AFROTC's guidelines, he still started a quarantine for two weeks. So, the entire apartment has been in lockdown. Caleb has been doing all his classes online from home. It's been really boring. He missed fresh air, and when he eventually went outside he walked straight into some neighbors who were snogging heavily right in the middle of the walkway so that it was unavoidable, but to have to walk right by them. Awkward! So much for getting some fresh air!

The miracle of the week: Caleb got to be the miracle this week. Parker had been suffering from chills and other COVID side effects one day. It was getting late, and Caleb was just about to go to bed when he suddenly remembered some physics which Parker needed to finish. They happen to be in the same section of the class, and since Caleb has had physics twice before, including AP, he has been tutoring Parker. Well, Caleb managed to rouse Parker and help him to finish his assignment in time to turn it in before the night's deadline. Way to be the miracle, Caleb!
