Sliding, Rolling and Dabbing into Summer
The days leading into summer were fun and getting hot. Riley's school had a field day with a ton of inflatables and water fun. I was able to help out as the class moved from station to station going on slip 'n slides and obstacle courses. They drew with sidewalk chalk and got free Kona Ice. Riley was having a great time!
Here he is with his buddy, Baylin Etzel.
Enjoying Kona Ice with his friend, Paige.
The very last day of school was a short day for everyone, so we decided to take a picnic lunch and our rollerblades and scooters to Riverfront Park to check out the falls Jake and I had discovered, try out the new skating ribbon, and do some general exploring.
The skating ribbon was really cool. Everyone has to bring or borrow a helmet, but it is free if you have your own wheels, otherwise you can rent skates there. It is like a wavy skating rink outdoors. They pipe in music from speakers, so you can enjoy some tunes while you roll. Caleb was excited to dust off his rollerblades and Riley and Brendan raced their scooters. It was a good time.
It just so happened to be a day of free admission to the Looff Carousel that day, too, so Brendan, Riley and I decided to brave the line and go on a ride. It's all been beautifully renovated and restored, complete with the ring dispenser. If you are lucky enough to score and outside horse, you reach out on your way around the carousel and try to grab a ring from the dispenser. Then you can toss the rings into the Garbage Goat game holes. It's just for fun, but a tradition and novelty that all the kiddos enjoy.
Then one last bit of fun heading into summer was a bit of news for Caleb.
He did well on his audition and made it into the CV Symphony Orchestra as one of only two trumpet players! It's sort of a big deal. ;)
Summer 2018 is going to be awesome!
