Shoot! Another Teenager!

This blue-eyed boy has finally struck thirteen! We officially have another teenager in the house!

And to celebrate (after breaking out of his crepe paper enclosed room), he got to have some Johnny cakes for breakfast!

When your birthday also happens to be a school day...and in the middle of the week...a lot of it can feel "business as usual". He did have to go to school, but Jacob and I surprised him with a special lunch delivery of KFC and some root beer, so it wasn't all bad.

When he got home, we let him open up his presents early and had his favorite dinner of ravioli before mutual. We let him decide if he wanted to go to mutual on his birthday or not, but, since it was a combined activity that was also a Nerf gun war, he opted to go.

Maybe because he got this baby for his birthday...

He really turned some heads at the activity with that thing. So much so, that several of the older boys kept trying to use it themselves, much to Brendan's dismay. It WAS pretty impressive, though. It uses special, extra large rounds and is an automatic. It also makes a whirring noise as it's starting up.

Then to close it all up, we sang "Happy Birthday" and he enjoyed a chocolate silk pie with all 13 candles on there. He even managed to blow them all out. Happy birthday, Brendan! We love you!
