Smoking in Spokane

After our awesome vacation in California, we were eager to return to the beauty of Washington. The green mountains, the sparkling lakes...the wildfire smoke? So excited to leave the SoCal smog behind, we were saddened to come home to smoke-filled skies as wildfires in Idaho, Montana, Oregon AND British Columbia choked our fair area. We were literally surrounded.

The conditions were so bad at times, that there would be hazardous conditions warnings, discouraging anyone from going outside for extended periods of time. That meant no running with the cross country team for Caleb and no playing outside for Riley and Brendan. It was so sad. Our usual view of the mountains was completely obscured.

All we could do was pray for rain and for those fighting the fires to be safe and successful.
