The Blessing of Family

When Jacob had his first UTA weekend with the Air Force Reserves down at March Reserves Base in California, we decided to make a family trip of it to see my family. The kids hadn't been back to California since before we moved to Ohio, and I hadn't been back since my brother, Don's wedding a couple years back. Along with his new wife, he had a new baby and my brother, Ben, had had two little girls in that time, none of whom the family had met! It was time.

Since we would all be out together, Don and his wife, Maya, decided to bless their new baby boy, Thomas, while we were there, too! Such a happy reunion to look forward to!

As it happened, Riley had never been on a plane before either, so it would be his very first time flying, just after his sixth birthday. He was so excited!

While Jacob went to work that Saturday, we decided to check out the Flight Museum on March. The boys got to see their cousin, Alex, along with Nana and Papa to explore the simulators and get up close and personal with the planes and helicopters. We also got to see my sister, Laura, and meet her fiance, George.

On Sunday, the boys and I drove down to Redlands to attend Don's ward and witness Thomas' baby blessing. It was a very special day, and the boys loved meeting their new baby cousin.

For the after party, we met Maya's family and hung out at her place. They had an amazing backyard with goats and all sorts of interesting toys for the kids to play on. Then the adults and teens when inside to play Apples to Apples. It was a pretty rousing game, and it was fun seeing Maya and her family's personalities come out!

The weekend went by quickly and the boys were sad to have to head back to Washington. Poor Riley was especially upset. Having been away from my family for so long, he was sure that he wouldn't get to see them ever again. We told him that now that we are closer, we will see them sooner than before. He sure loves his family! Until next time!
