Inside, Outside, Under the Stars
We were very fortunate to have about two weeks between jobs when Jacob was able to relax and hang out with us. Then, his first shifts were spread apart, so he still had free time to explore.
He was eager to get out and try one of the local hikes and found one one a fifteen minute drive away. Riley was up for the challenge, she we packed some snacks and water and took off.
It was a glorious day. A little warm, but clear and sunny, so you could see all the way to the other side of the valley. Riley did a great job huffing it up the mountain. He was really each to be "king of the mountain".
I have also had the chance to start exploring our library summer fun activities and the local parks. I took Brendan and Riley to the Otis Orchards library to see a singing, juggling, silly performance. Riley enjoyed the juggling the best. I think Brendan liked his song about sleepwalking and pirates. He was a pretty funny guy.
We went out geocaching as we looked for fun parks.
One of our favorite parks has been the Valley Mission park in Spokane Valley. Not only did we find the most micro micro geocache ever, but there was great climbing equipment. There is also a pool there we hope to try another time. It was a gorgeous evening with perfect temperatures. I have to say that I am not missing the Ohio mosquitoes or humidity.
Then last Sunday, we decided to go out on a limb and attend a concert in the park. A friend from church had told me about an annual symphony on the river that can be watched from Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane. We watched the local ballet studio perform to Baroque music and then relaxed and played on the giant Radio Flyer slide until dark when the live music began, accompanied by a finale of fireworks. It was a great night. We just wished that Jacob hadn't been working that night. We sure are enjoying all the things to do here.
