A Child's Prayer

Monday night at dinner, we were all sitting down to the table when I reminded Riley to fold his arms for the prayer. It was then that he obediently did so, bowed his head, closed his eyes and without skipping a beat started right in...

"Fahder...day...bless food...Caybo...Bwendan...friends...Jesus...amen."

The rest of us sat there in surprise just staring at him through that short, sweet prayer. It was the first time he had ever said the prayer by himself. We had done little "put words in his mouth" prayers a couple of times in the days just before, but for him to say the prayer without any prompting from anyone and in his own words was the most tender little moment. We were so excited for our little Riley Bear. Afterwards, we all congratulated him on a wonderful prayer. Now he insists on saying it every time.

Love it! And hearing him pray was so sweet when he was here. Now it's
going to be sharing that honor. He really is special...
