Ready to Ride

Bren tried almost a year ago to ride Caleb's old bike and just wasn't big enough to touch the ground and really feel secure with it. He was absolutely terrified of falling and started using excuses about not wanting to practice riding.
Jake (who finally has a spare second off of rotations): Hey, Bren, how about we try riding your bike today?
Bren (who's totally available): No. I don't like riding except on Fridays after school.

So, if (heaven forbid) something was going on Friday after school, there was no bike riding to be had. He didn't want to do it on Saturdays because they are his "only day to just relax". Uhuh.

Well, I'm not sure what wild hare got into him, but he finally decided he wanted to try it again. Clearly the year of growth was just what he needed, too. His feet could touch the ground and within 10 minutes he was cruising down the street! We're still working on turning and going UP the street (there's a bit of an incline and he wasn't quite strong enough and balanced enough), but his confidence was definitely up. It was really exciting to finally get "the balance" as Caleb calls it. :)
