Last Days of School
These have been some VERY busy last couple of weeks. Jake has been in the midst of finals for the term, as well as starting his med, p.a. and grad school apps and starting to study for the MCAT, only to add having bronchitis on top of it all. I have been crazy trying to get acclimated to my new calling as Relief Society secretary, while helping out with Caleb's school activities, planning for his upcoming birthday which he's been eagerly anticipating and getting things organized for the summer in general. But all business aside, Caleb has been having a great time enjoying the last fun class and school activities before the last day - tomorrow - and his assent into the first grade.
His class took a little field trip last week to the YMCA to go swimming. They have a really nice three-foot deep kiddie pool fully equipped with a little tunnel slide, balls and squirt toys. The kids had an absolute blast. Caleb is that little extra white kid throwing the green ball.(Oh, wait, we're in Oregon and all of us are sun deprived. Well, you get the idea.)
It was pretty manic having all 35 or so kids in the pool (yes, it is a humongous class) plus a plethora of parents and lifeguards, but it was a good time.
The following day, the school held its annual carnival.
Everyone enjoyed a pizza dinner along with typical carnival activities: a bounce house, fishing game, cake walk, popcorn, ice cream, yawda yawda. Caleb's favorite was the bounce house with his friends, and the popcorn, which is probably one of his favorite foods right now.
Finally, today, they had their school field day with a ton of different sports activities. Jake volunteered at the giant ball race station where they had to roll gia-normous balls up and down the field with a partner.
As you can see, it was a little tricky for the kinder kids. This is Caleb with his friend Vera (not GIRLfriend, mind you, but friend).
So much fun in so little time, but, hopefully, they will be memories that he'll always remember from his year in kindergarten. Ah, how the time flies by. Now, hello summer!
